Abhishek Sharma blasted seven fours and eight sixes in his even century, setting the stage for India’s emphatic victory by 100 runs.
In the second Twenty20 International against Zimbabwe, Abhishek Sharma claimed to have used Shubman Gill’s bat after smashing a 47-ball century. The opener described it as a lucky charm in a “pressure game.” Abhishek sharma was bowled for zero in the opening match on Saturday; however, he bounced back the next day and hit seven fours and eight sixes in his even hundred, setting the stage for India to win by a comfortable 100 runs. Abhishek sharma called his experience with Gill, which commenced in the under-12 division, “beautiful.”
It has been lovely, beginning with the 11- and 12-year-old children. Yes, we play together, starting with those in under-12. The first call I got after being picked for the national team was from Shubman, Abhishek sharma stated in the press conference following the game.
Playing with Gill’s bat has been a habit Abhishek sharma claimed he picked up from age-group cricket.
“I played with his bat today, so I’m grateful for the bat,” I asked Dad for a bat every time I played a pressure game, starting in the under-12 days.
“It had also occurred in the IPL,” Abhishek sharma stated that today was no different, as everything went according to plan.
In addition, the left-hander expressed gratitude to his father and former India batting star Yuvraj Singh for allowing him to play cricket with such bravery these days.
“Yuvi paaji, or Yuvraj Singh, has contributed significantly. I don’t think of myself as the Sixer King or anything. I’m grateful to my father for letting me play lofted shots.
In general, instructors forbid young batters from hitting lofted balls. However, my father always insisted that a lofted shot should leave the ground if you wished to play it. He said, “So, I wanted to follow that.”
Was he under pressure before making his T20I international debut in this Saturday’s opening game? “I believe the IPL significantly impacts this (managing pressure).” When we arrived here as debutants to represent the nation, we did not feel particularly under pressure.
Sadly, we had a rough start to the first game. However, I approached the task with a similar mindset and strategy: demonstrating the proper intent. In the first match, the 23-year-old was dismissed for a four-ball duck in the first over. However, more was needed for Abhishek to change his perspective or methodology.
“This is my game, and if the first ball is in my slot, I’ll take the shot. It works out if it’s my day, and if not, I’m not upset about it. I work on this mindset a lot,” he remarked.
But Abhishek claimed that he carried out his strategy far more skillfully in the second game.
Naturally, I performed better today than I did yesterday. I was figuring out how much of a risk to take in the opening over and whether to play the ball based on its merits.
“I think it’s my day when I get boundaries or sixes in the first few balls,” he concluded.
