Captain Rohit Sharma, but no Kohli in the T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament

After leading India to their second T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma was named captain of the T20 World Cup 2024 Team of the Tournament.

Virat Kohli, who was named man of the match for his game-winning innings of 76 against South Africa in the final, was left out.

In addition to Rohit sharma, the other Indians on the Team of the Tournament are Arshdeep Singh, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya, and Player of the Tournament Jasprit Bumrah.

With 257 runs in eight innings, Rohit sharma emerged as the competition’s second-highest scorer. His best effort was in the victory over Australia, where he hit a career-high 92. He then added 57 in the win over Australia in the semi-final.

The only player to surpass the Indian opener in runs scored, Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz, joins him at the top of the order.

Afghanistan achieved history by reaching the semi-finals for the first time, led by Rahmanullah’s 281 runs, which included three half-centuries. His sixty over Australia proved crucial as Afghanistan advanced from the Super Eights.

Nicholas Pooran, the West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman, comes in at number three. He scored 228 runs at an average of 38 in a win over Afghanistan, which included a 98 off of 53 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav, an aggressive batsman who scored 47 runs in the semi-final match against England and struck 53 off only 28 balls in the Super 8s victory against Afghanistan, is the second Indian player on the team.

Marcus Stoinis, who was added to the team after an outstanding competition, is the lone Australian at No. 5. Using both the bat and the ball, Stoinis scored 169 runs at a strike rate above 160 and an average of more than 40. He contributed ten wickets during the competition as well.

The next all-round player is Hardik Pandya, an Indian who amassed 144 runs at an average of 48, claimed 11 wickets with the ball, and bowled the crucial last over to ensure victory.

Axar Patel, his teammate, had a comparable impact with the bat and the ball. After making an important 47 and contributing 3/23 to the team’s victory over England in the semi-final, the left-armer was moved up the order in the final.

The Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan, who dominates in the Caribbean with 14 wickets at an average of 12.78 and an economy rate of just over six, is ranked eighth.

Jasprit Bumrah, the tournament’s best performance overall, comes behind him. During his session, India’s fortunes turned around, which yielded 15 wickets at an economy rate of 4.17 and an average of just 8.26.

Arshdeep Singh, who excelled in his second World Cup, is the last player from India in the starting XI. His 17 wickets, which included a vital 2/20 in the final, tied for the most of any player.

The last member in the XI, Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi, was the only player to match Arshdeep’s wicket total. Afghanistan advanced the Black Caps, and his 4/17 helped them defeat New Zealand in the group stages.

Second-place winner Anrich Nortje, who has been excellent for the Proteas, is the team’s 12th player from South Africa. At an economy rate of less than six and a wicket average of 13.40, he claimed 15 wickets.

Wasim Khan, the general manager of cricket at the ICC, and pundits Harsha Bhogle, Ian Bishop, and Kass Naidoo made up the selection panel.
