Pitch matters nothing; the most arduous duty is in India: Shakib Al Hasan.
Famous Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan said on Thursday that playing in India is the hardest Test assignment and that the hosts’ superior quality means that grounds don’t matter.
Since their first test match in Dhaka in 2000, Bangladesh has been looking for its first victory over India.
In the 14 matches between the two teams, India has prevailed in 12, with the remaining two ending in draws.
“If you look at other countries, they occasionally drop a game or two. However, it is rare to witness India lose in Test matches. So yeah, you are correct. Shakib Al Hasan responded to reporters when they enquired whether going on a tour to India was the most challenging task.
“We were very close to winning a game against them in a Test match in Bangladesh, but we prevailed against them in the ODI series.” We haven’t had the desired level of success in Test cricket. We’ll get another chance tomorrow.”
“In Chennai, I felt like we performed pretty well in certain areas. Nevertheless, it wasn’t ideal for us to complete the match in three and a half days. We believed that as a team we were superior. Thus, we must demonstrate that in the game tomorrow,” he continued.
Shakib Al Hasan made a parallel between Bangladesh and India, noting that the former performed remarkably well to win the Test series 2-0 in Pakistan before travelling to India.
“The Pakistani team is not that old. In terms of experience, I would argue that if you compare our team’s record and the games we have played with theirs, you will see that we have more than them. And I believe that to be a major role in Test cricket.”
“As far as I’m concerned, India is now leading the World Championship. At home, they are most likely unbeatable. They have remained unbeaten in India for about 4000 days, according to a statistic I saw somewhere. That demonstrates how excellent they are in India.”
“They have also been successful outside of India. We are similar to any other country that found it challenging to come to India. He pointed out, “To be able to demonstrate the fight we feel like we can put up, we have to play well against them.
When asked if they would benefit from a spin-friendly pitch in Kanpur, Shakib Al Hasan said that tracks are not a significant consideration when facing elite teams.
“Pits don’t matter much when you play against a team like India, Australia, or England because they will undoubtedly have their weapon with which they can attack us.”
“They will possess excellent fast bowlers, quality batsmen, and quality spinners.” In my opinion, the pitch won’t likely have any impact. All we need to do is outperform our performance from Chennai.
For the squad to be competitive, Shakib Al Hasan urged the young hitters from Bangladesh to score many runs.
“Only in terms of batting, I believe there has been progress. If you look at the first and second innings together. We bowled out for approximately 150 in the first inning.”
Our second innings saw us score roughly 250 runs. There’s a big improvement there, in my opinion, if we can score 350. Additionally, a first-inning score of 350 to 400 will boost our confidence and make the dressing room feel much cosier,” he stated.
Pitch selection has always been a significant factor in deciding the result of cricket matches, a game of talent and strategy. Teams have spent years researching and preparing for various pitch conditions, mainly when playing challenging opponents. Shakib Al Hasan, the legendary cricket player from Bangladesh, recently discussed why pitch conditions are irrelevant when playing India. Shakib Al Hasan believes India is a strong squad regardless of the surface because of their versatility and adaptability, which practically eliminates the need for pitches.
The Significance of Cricket Pitch Conditions
Pitch conditions have a big impact on the game of cricket. A green pitch usually favours fast bowlers, whereas spinners benefit on a dry, cracked surface. Pitch preparation has long been a point of interest for players and teams, and many have adapted their techniques accordingly. Indian grounds are notorious for helping spin bowlers, which makes them challenging for international teams. However, Shakib thinks that the emphasis should be elsewhere when playing India.
Shakib Al Hasan : A Legend in Cricket
Without question, one of the most successful cricketers in Bangladeshi history is Shakib Al Hasan. Over the course of his spectacular ten-year career, he has encountered and mastered a wide variety of pitch conditions worldwide. His versatility as an all-rounder has helped him succeed on difficult pitches, but what drew attention was his understanding of India’s capacity for adaptation.
Shakib’s Take on Why Pitches Against India Don’t Matter
Shakib claims India is now a cricketing superpower that can compete on any surface. He thinks their versatility and ability to adjust to different situations make them strong, rather than just the individual players. The Indian squad has repeatedly demonstrated their ability to modify their strategy and take control of the game, whether the surface is flat or ideal for spinners.
India’s Capability to Adjust to Various Situations
India’s ability to perform well in home and away games is one of their most significant advantages. The Indian cricket team has established a reputation for versatility due to their potent bowling attack and batting lineup. Their batters have handled challenging pitches with ease. At the same time, their fast bowlers have excelled even on surfaces conducive to spin.
Bangladesh’s Past Opposition to India
Over the years, Bangladesh and India have experienced numerous exciting confrontations. Shakib believes that although pitch quality has affected a few games, India’s total superiority has frequently eclipsed it. Games such as the Asia Cup and the World Cup quarterfinal 2015 demonstrated India’s outstanding versatility. India’s strength proved too strong to handle, even when Bangladesh’s pitch conditions were favourable.
Advantage of Psychology Over Pitch Conditions
Shakib highlights that pitch conditions are only sometimes as necessary as the mental component of the game. India has an advantage in international cricket due to their mentality, self-assurance, and capacity to perform under pressure. Shakib Al Hasan thinks teams can lose emphasis on improving their gameplay by obsessing over pitch details.
Shakib Al Hasan Principal Approaches Against India
Despite India’s indisputable advantages, Shakib Al Hasan knows that Bangladesh can still win if they employ the right plan. He takes a more strategic approach than just considering pitches. He concentrates on important aspects like playing to Bangladesh’s advantage, balancing aggression, and taking advantage of holes in India’s strategy. He is clear, though, that thinking about the pitch comes second.
India’s Unmatched Cricket Abilities
Players who have consistently performed well on various surfaces include Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, all of whom play for India. India’s capacity to perform well in any situation makes it a formidable foe. These players have a track record of creating significant runs or claiming vital wickets domestically and overseas, supporting Shakib Al Hasan assertion that India can succeed on any field.
In summary
Shakib Al Hasan viewpoint on pitches against India illuminates a significant facet of contemporary cricket. Pitches still impact gameplay, but India is a team that can succeed on any surface with their adaptation and mental toughness. Bangladesh and other teams must stop worrying about the surface and instead concentrate on developing their strategies and skills.
